It all started when…
I have been a keen hobby photographer for a number of years and always enjoyed the editing process as well. On a number of occasions I created photo based stationery for friends such as invitations and thank you notes. I also took some headshots for a local theatre group as well as pictures of the show itself. I work from home and was looking for something to get me out the house some evenings and weekends. After looking into the possibility of a Photobooth, I thought this was too far away from the actual art of taking pictures, but I loved the idea of instant printing as a memento of an event or party. Looking at what value I could add to the photo booth option, I decided to research green screen photography as a way of providing something more specific to the client and highly customisable. Then it was just a case of building up a base of equipment and practicing the workflow.
Next came a name. Many photographers use their name as a brand, but as I was not positioning myself as a traditional photographer, I wanted something a little different. I started looking into the words ‘photo’ and ‘image’ in different languages and fell in love with the Finnish word ‘Kuva”. As this didn’t in itself say anything about what I do, I added the ‘Pix” in an attempt to be more informative.
